One holistic practitioner in Maine treats children and adults in an alternative and holistic manner. For, Beth Newman Reiki ellsworth ME uses the ancient Japanese healing art form with clients of all ages. While there are a number of clients whom praise the holistic healing art form for the powerful healing aspects received, there has been no scientific proof as to the effectiveness of the treatment to date.

Most often, practitioners of the art form use a palm down or hands open healing method to spread positive energy throughout the body. The energy force known as qi or chi is believed to be the universal energy which surrounds all being. Whereas, the transference of positive energy in the practice is believed to promte and encourage emotional and physical healing.

Considered a pseudoscience, holistic healing gets a lot of flack. When it comes to Reiki, the practice is associated with chi or qi which practitioners believe is a universal life force shared by all living things. While this is the case, there has never been any empirical evidence that the energy known as qi or chi actually exist. Regardless, practitioners and clients whom have experienced the healing aspect of this holistic healing art form most often disagree.

Recent clinical research has shown that there is no proof as to whether the holistic healing art form has been successful in treating medical conditions. While true, a number of practitioners and clients will most likely disagree. Whereas, investigations into the practice have shown that even when results of research studies result in a positive experience, most individuals believe the research was flawed.

While the healing art is believed to have great healing power, it is important that cancer patients add the holistic healing art form to existing healing modes. Unlike other treatments, since there are no drugs involved, there is no chance of a negative drug interaction or addiction. As such, adding positive energy to existing health plans can often be beneficial to overall health and well being.

The healing art form was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in 1922. Since that time, it has been adapted and modified according to cultural traditions throughout the modern world. As such, while having a similar approach, different practitioners and teachers may teach and treat issues differently.

The Oxford Dictionary suggest the term Reiki is defined as a miraculous or mysterious atmosphere first recorded in 1001 A. D. In combining the words rei meaning soul and ki referring to vital energy, the terms qi and chi were formed. Whereas, the earliest recorded use of the term in the United States did not occur until 1975.

A different definition exist in the Japanese language which indicates Reiki refers to rei as spirit and ki as breath of life, consciousness or vital energy. While rei refers to spirit, other meanings of ki can include character or nature, temperament, temper, frame of mind, moods and feelings. When it comes to learning Reiki, there are brick and mortar classes as well as classes being offered online.
