Using Natural Oils For Treating Thrush

by Shirley Williams

Thrush is caused by the overgrowth of a yeast called Candida Albicans. This particular yeast is present within the body ordinarily, however, when the yeast multiplies too quickly, an imbalance is created which causes the symptoms of thrush. Although the symptoms may vary, many sufferers experience excessive discharge and itching. Nevertheless, essential oils for thrush can help alleviate the symptoms.

Many sufferers have found that natural yoghurt, when used alone or combined with natural oils, effectively helps to treat the condition . Use yoghurt externally and apply to the vagina for quick relief. It is important, however, to ensure that one's hands are clean before applying the yoghurt as any bacteria may be passed to the genital area.

A combination of tea tree, rosemary and lavender can be mixed with vinegar to treat unpleasant symptoms. Two to three drops of each oil should be mixed with up to three drops of vinegar and then added to distilled water, about a cup full. Douse cotton wool in the solution then apply to the inflamed genital area. Repeat this process up to four times a day.

Marjoram and patchouli can also be used to treat this condition. Add two drops of each oil to half a cup full of warm water. Fill a douche with the mixture and swill the vagina two or three times a day. You should soon notice some improvement in the symptoms.

Renowned for its antiseptic and anti fungal properties, bergamot is also hailed as a treatment. Use warm distilled water and add up to three drops of bergamot. Again, use a douche and fill with the solution to irrigate the vagina. Repeat three to four times daily, until symptoms subside.

It is not uncommon for men to suffer from this condition, either. The penis should be cleansed regularly, about four times daily, in a solution of tea tree and patchouli oil. Mix four to five drops of patchouli and tea tree oil with a couple of cups of distilled, warm water and wash the penis thoroughly. Symptoms should diminish within a few days.

Essential oils for thrush have been hailed as an effective treatment for this condition. Men and women can experience the symptoms of this condition which can be very unpleasant for the sufferer. Patchouli, marjorma, tea tree and lavender are amongst some of the oils which are frequently used. Natural yoghurt can also be combined with these oils, and is known to soothe the effected area and treat inflammation.
